Barry Ruback, Recipient of Brit Shalom's Helping Hands Award

The Helping Hands award was established by Congregation Brit Shalom to honor those of our dedicated volunteers who have made outstanding contributions to our synagogue and congregation. At the Spring Congregational Meeting on May 24, Barry Rubeck was recognized posthumously for this honor.

In announcing the award, Ron Hodes explained that Barry recognized the need to take action to form what became the Building Our Future Campaign. When no one would agree to chair the major fundraising campaign, he organized a group and set a goal that would address our much needed building upgrades, and repairs, safety and security, programming, education, rabbi retention and the need to apply for grants.

When his time as congregation president ended and we did not have a volunteer to replace him, he generously agreed to serve an additional year.

For these reasons and more, we are grateful for Barry’s unselfish commitment and dedication to our congregation, as a most valued volunteer.

The award will be presented to Barry’s family at a Shabbat service and Oneg in his honor at a date to be determined.
