Book Discussion of Anita Diamant's Novel: The Boston Girl

You are invited on Sunday April 26 at 1:00 pm to a discussion of Anita Diamant's best-selling novel The Boston Girl. The novel is a beautifully written first person account of the societal changes experienced by women in the period between 1900 - 1985.

Addie recounts challenges she and her friends experienced growing up and striving for women’s empowerment including - women’s changing roles at home and in the workplace, fights for educational equality, the battle for reproductive freedoms, all couched within the framework of the immigrant experience.

This is an intergenerational event (recommended for ages 14+), inspired by Women of Reform Judaism's Day of Action, and hosted by Hermine Shapiro, Rebecca Thorsen, Lynn Petnick, and the Programming Committee.

Participants are encouraged to bring feminine hygiene products for donation to the State College Food Bank. If you intend to participate, please reply to Michelle Davis (admin@britshalomstatecollege.org) by March 15. A limited number of books are available for participants to share. Please let us know if you would like to borrow one.
